Will you sell just the tip by itself?

I likey... sort of Boxterish. A soundtrack would be nice and, if possible, could I suggest a recording of the same car before the exhaust was installed so you can hear the difference recorded on the same equipment for the same car (inside and out) for an apples-to-apples comparison?

A dyno run would also seem to be in order.

Very nice work!

It looks very nice and I'm sure you'll be able to sell a few. Unfortunately, I'm already biased against it because the Magnaflow resonator looks identical to the BPP, which is too loud for my taste. Berfore I buy another muffler (I have a BPP and want to replace it) I am going to want to hear the muffler in person. It is unfortunate that audio clips really don't give a good way to gauge volume.

I do have a critique for you. The portion that is attached to catalytic converter is going to vibrate with the engine, which is why you want a flex pipe in the mix. The purpose of the flex pipe is to isolate the vibration of the engine from the muffler and its mounts. But you have one of the two mounts welded on to the pipe that attaches to the catalytic converter. It is going to vibrate but the mount will try to hold it rigid. The result could be a fatigue failure at the weld later. This is what happened to the DTH products.

Even if the strength of the weld is greater than the fatigue limit, it will rattle the bolts loose. I have to tighten up the bolts on my BPP about once a month or else I hear the whole thing rattling.

I'm still looking for an exhaust that is center exit, good looking (yours meets these two criteria) isolates the engine vibration from the mounts (yours is only batting 0.500) and also quiet enough that I can hear the music playing clearly.

Best,

geosynch

Thank you for all of the feed back. I have lots of questions to answer.

Padawan. I don't have any plans for an exhaust with the tip in the stock location. However, I am a very small operation and make all of my products in house, I would be happy to make you one like that if you are interested. Should be pretty easy just a little bit different on how the tubing is bent.

Tbone28, I will sell you a tip if you want, If you plan on sticking it on the stock Brabus muffler you are going to have your work cut out for you. But, where there's a will there's a way. Price on the tip is $50 plus $10 to ship.

Rfernatt, I am planing on doing the sound bite just as you suggested, that way you can tell exactly how it sounds compared to stock. My friend with the Dyno went out of business. The other guy in town likes to blow cars up. I am 99% sure this thing will make 5 or 6 horse power. I will probably have the test car dynoed in a month or so before we tear out the engine to make way for the bigger one we just bought, but that's a whole different story

Geosynch, Thank you, thank you, thank you! Sometimes you look at a project for so long you just get lost in the details and then someone like you walks up and points out the obvious. I have been running this exhaust on the test car for months now and have never had a problem, I think I may have just been lucky. You are absolutely right on the placement of the hanger, I will change my design before a single customer receives an exhaust.

Looks good Matt but I too am already bias since it also has a Magnaflow reasonator.. I have a BPP center tip but find it too loud at times.. Like Geo said, I also find me self tightening the BPP bolts once in a while. Congrats though and I look forward to the sound clip!

Genius exhaust sound clips

I took some video this morning. The first is the stock exhaust system, the second is the Genius system. The Valance IS NOT cut correctly! The finalized system will look muck nicer and I will have pictures of that next week.

This is how I took the videos. The camera and car are in the exact same spots for both clips. I left the car in neutral and just reved it up. The factory rev-limiter kicks in while in neutral at around 3000 RPM so I couldn't rev it any higher than that. The video has a different sound quality between both clips. I think this is because my system points directly at the camera while the stock one points downward.

I will also try and get some drive by video clips soon. These will start shipping in a couple of weeks!

Matt

That sounds great! Can you also take some videos of drive-bys and inside the cabin?
