Not to hi jack my own thread, but can any of you tell me how to quote a bunch of different post's all at once, to multi-quote if you will?
Thanks,
Matt
Matt,

Your project looks to be a beautiful conversion. I'm looking forward to seeing what the complete car can do!
I know people that lust over these kinds of conversions. If I had the money and desire, I'd be talking to you first. But, like my audio system, my own car's drivetrain won't be enhanced to an extreme level, at least not in the near future.
There are places in Europe that will go all Hayabusa on your smart?
As far as I know no body in Europe does this kind of thing with Busa motors. I have heard over there that you need a special license to ride anything over 1000cc's so the motors are harder to find.

What you are doing is taking the whole thing to a higher level, you have my upmost respect. I put a supercharged Mustang Cobra 5.0 in a 86 Volvo 760, it was a ton of fun blowing away all the kids in their Rice Burners with coffee can exhausts. One kid asked my why I did that conversion, I told him it was to teach kids to respect old men in Volvos. Your Smart will have the effect. Let's hope nothing breaks and you have a ton of fun like I did.
That is the spirt! Blowing away kids with a souped up Volvo is just like blowing away a Vette or Ferrari with a Smart Car. It's how urban legends are made.

For sure, I have a deal with the car owner to take the car to events just like this.

As far as I know the ABS should still work. Not sure yet about ESP. I will let you all know for sure when it's done.

I think Smartuki claims 12.4 and that is with a rather poorly designed intake and exhaust. Plus I have a guy that is going to hack into the stock Suzuki computer and give this thing an optimum tune. So, Lets hope for 11s!!

Thank you. I believe the difference is that the axle in my smartuki is a 20 spline 25 mm. I have a radical SR3 as well which uses the same Quaife part; however, the inner and outer CV's are much different. Obviously the 23 spline is correct for the Quaife the the inner tripod isn't correct. I am waiting to get some parts from Drivelink (UK) to see if it can get me back on the road. Ultimately, I may have to design something stronger.
Congrats on your project. Really does seem reasonably priced considering what you are undertaking.
On a side note, on your tuning, just slap a power commander on it and have any bike shop with his/her weight tune it. On the 02 to 07 busa motors, there is a program and adapter which now hacks into the OE harness and can tune ANY aspect of the system even with FI.
$17k seems kinda high for a car that only does 125mph but the quality looks worth it. The smartuki kit changes the whole rear subframe suspension, and disc breaks, they also have an option for a front subframe conversion. The car won't be as fast as you expect the tires are still 7" and the weight hasn't changed to much. hope to get some numbers on dyno and 1/4 mile times. if theres an option to change the top speed let me know.

You can change the top speed in the cars. The quaife uses a sprocket and chain drive. You could purchase a larger drive sprocket from the engine or a smaller sprocket for the quaife--obviously sacrificing 'low end' power which really is where the fun is in this car, anyway. Not sure how much faster than 125 you want to go in this car, anyway.
To change the gears for more top speed is no big deal at all. We just chose this gearing to give the car a bunch of driving around town power. I can really put whatever gear in it that you want, like Ben said though, I think over 125 the tiny Smart is going to get pretty scary.
Sorry, no new pics right now, business was good this week and I had to weld up exhaust systems. Now it's time to get back to working on the Busa. I will get more into the features and benefits of this kit a little later. For now I just need to build some more parts for it and post the pictures, There are a lot of creative ideas for this thing that haven't even been built yet. I think that once you see the finished product, the price won't seem that high.
1. I wonder what the stock parts we will be taking off are actually worth (ballpark from low to high resell price range). Knowing the exact MSRP of the parts, i.e. engine, transmission, etc. would help determine the offset in total cost, i.e. $18,500 - sale of stock engine, transmission, etc. People are saying the engine costs about $10k, well if that's the case then the car would have to be nearly new for someone to spend 10 grand to replace the engine.
2. Top speed isn't important to me at ALL. I value my life, license, low insurance rates, etc. to be driving ridiculous speeds on roads with my local highway/Interstate limits of 55mph. Now if I lived in Europe with various autobahns, then I'd be interested in top speed. I rented a Smart car in Portugal in March and realized the entire country has autobahns everywhere, but in the U.S. it's rather pointless unless you live near the U.S. version of the autobahn. Acceleration between 0 to 80 and variations in between is what's important.
3. I want to learn more about other engine modifications such as the $4k turbo kit, MR2 conversion, etc. Seems like the MR2 conversion has a rather quiet exhaust. Is it possible to have a quiet exhaust. I just sold my breathless exhaust after 250 miles on it. I know a loud exhaust is "cool", attention getting and serves to put the bad a$$ ego mantra in overdrive, but I'd prefer a quiet exhaust even if it limits the power some. Unless there's a VERY good reason to have a louder exhaust other than a tad bit more power, then I don't see the point. BTW, my Passion seemed slower with the breathless exhaust and faster when I put the stock back on...as strange as that sounds.
4. I am still VERY interested in this GSX1300 setup.
