Boeschbuilt, I was curious about the welding technique you used for the engine cradle. I have never seen GMAW (Mig) lay in a pattern like that except in a pulse transfer weave bead.

I learned that technique from a desert racing team. It is a way to mig weld without putting a ton of heat into the metal. Basically you just spot weld over and over again while still keeping the weld red hot, it takes a little practice because it's all about the timing. I would imagine it isn't quite as strong as just laying a continuous bead but I have been doing it for years with no failures. I just like it because it looks really cool and is a lot faster than a TIG weld.

Sorry, no new videos.
The owner of this car and I have parted ways. I built this car for free as a prototype intending to make kits in the future. The car was having some teething problems and I informed the owner that I couldn't keep working on the car free of charge because I had to pay the bills. Needless to say, he got upset, I got upset, and we decided not to work together anymore.
After 600 hours of free labor and thousands of my own money I got a little burnt out on SmartBusa's, I needed a break to do a bunch of stuff for other customers.
Here it is a few months later and a few people have talked me into making them a kit, the jigs are built and the learning curve is pretty much over so I am looking forward getting started on their builds.
Construction starts mid-June.

Thats crazy insane. Very cool. I think this will take off when people start getting to the point where the car engine is dead (high mileage ect) were you have just a smart shell. Would love do to it. I would love to see the smartbusa at a drag strip.
