HID Kit Issues

I know there has been a huge discussion about this on here and im not getting all the details on how to fix the flickering. Installed a HID kit on my 09 Smart and as soon as I turn the lights on they will start to flicker as they warm up then they are fine. Also have the radio distortion issue and I was wondering if where I mounted the ballast has anything to do with it? I have switched to a 15 amp fuse and still the same scenerio so anyone could please help before I send this kit back!!

It sounds as if you have either bad ballasts or not enough current getting to them at start-up. Was this an inexpensive kit? Are you using a relay to power them?

what watt kit did you get? here is a fix for you, you need to wire up a relay and get power from the battery your hid kit is pulling too much power to start the bulbs that is why they flicker not enough power to start the lights

Its actually a really good and have heard nothing but good things about the kit. I have the 6000k kit and no im not using any type of relay but after about an hour of just looking over everything I decided to move the ballast box outside the car away from any type of metal and they seem to be working fine when I turn them on as for the radio. I had them mounted with zipties temporarly on the main harness that goes down the side of the fenders so im wondering if they are grounding out since the ballast box is metal? Its the intial warmup part that it would start to flicker and slowly come on. It beats me though cause I have never had this happen before with hid kits in the past. Would it not hurt to go ahead and put a resistor or relay in?

i dont think that the ballast would ground out or work different. i mounted my ballast behind the light on the plastic structure did you bulb or ballest get wet that will effect the operation but if they work when you turn them on then they start flickering i think you have a problem with the ballasts. unplug one and see if you still have the same result

So after changing out both ballasts and checking each bulb along with all the wire connections it still flickers. Here is the thing though ... I noticed that they only flicker when they havent been turned on in a couple of hours. It beats me and I have talked to the technicians that make the hid kits and they cant figure it out either. Would a relay help and if so how would I go about wiring up one?
