How to make your car detected by stop lights

I was Just watching Brink a new tv show that came out this year.
They were showing a Scooter guy was having a problem changing the light. The induction detection that is cut under the road wasn't picking up the scooter just like the smart car. So he got some double sided tape and some neodymium iron boride magnets. You can get them online and ebay, I have bought them in the past, These suckers are STRONG!! So if you have a pace maker stay away, that's not a joke! Placed them under the scooter and the lights were able to change do to the magnetic field being detected through the induction system. Any way's I'm gonna put some on tomorrow and see if it help's. I'll let ya know

More power to you. But, after five months of ownership, I have yet to have the problem in my smart. It weighs nearly a ton, mostly steel I suppose. It's 78% as massive as the Neon I owned. No problem with that car either.

You could just carry a big fat passenger at all times. There goes your mileage.
Ooops, very un-pc. I meant to say weight-challenged...

^^^nah, you're just correct, not pohlitically correct. ;)

anyhoo, thanks for posting this! I ride Vespas and have this problem occasionally. I've found in the past that I simply have to make my turn once it's safe to do so... and since my Vespas are metal the magnets will stick well!

I'm going to post this info on my Vespa forum.

Thanks!

Give me an excuse to run red arrows especially when there is no opposing traffic. Have two of these near my home that won't go off with my smart...

Oh, five or six and out of a giant magnetron tube . . . of course, with these underneath you'll have to stop now and again and remove all the nails, wire and other road debris hanging under the car~!

LOL, we actually had one of these in a buddy's trunk one time; he turned a sharp corner and it slammed into the fender side - horn side down - with a great THUNK. (That's where all the power is, the horns and the center.) IRRC, it was about 12 inches long and about 4 inches wide. It took a crowbar and two big guys to get it pried loose enough to remove. This one was so strong that a one inch socket couldn't be pulled off of the center area. You had to slide it to an edge and rock it off. Great fun, too.
