After reading the title, I was thinking some old police drama where they beat some guy with a rubber hose during interrogation.

SM: Why did you buy the smart!? You know you'd be a million times safer in a 4700 lb SUV and fun driving, gas, and parking just don't matter. Just ask Critical Thinker, he will tell you all that you need to know!

SC: I'll never switch, never! THWACK! SMACK! Aieeeeee......!

SM: Now, tell me, how many lights do you see?

SC: There are four lights! At least, with the optional fogs installed.

TO BE CONTINUED NEXT TIME ON THE SMART CHANNEL...

Not surprised.

Whew!

I just logged in and seen the "Hosed" comment and a chill went through my body. Thanks a lot! Now I don't need my cup of coffee since I am wide awake. :-)

Glad you like the hose and are happy with your dealings with us.

I have stock exhaust, but the intake sound is much nicer on my spirited accelerations. Seems to be a small mpg gain from it as well.

I'll confess! I didn't get the silicone intake hose..don't hurt me! I got someone elses 50 cent mod last week. Same benefits, not as pretty, but it is cheaper! So this was kind of a spotlight theif moment...
If you did the 50 cent mod pleeeeeaaaaseee make sure you regularly check those quarters. We have had several customers that did a similar thing report back that when the engine got hot the quarters vibrated loose and came out that is why we do not recommend this.

Sure, some people might get the wrong idea, but this is clearly a happy customer. Glad you're happy with your hose job!

Is the cold-air-intake better performance than the hose replacement upgrade? Still, I am guessing the hose is cheaper, effective and awesome. I am so glad to see solid aftermarket support for our little cars.
The hose is a nice upgrade that will provide added performance, but if you are looking for more gains than the Cold Air Intake is still a better choice between the two.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll check again after the engine is hot..they seem very well siliconed in, in a very thick layer. False sense of security?

I'll also admit to checking this post thinking it was something bad...

Hey New Wave, the silicon should hold up fine,I used it for a while and it had plenty chances to get hot ,no problems.

Thanks for all of the posts and concern, I must apologize, I tend to get carried away when I come across a product that works really well in many areas. In my case it was an old hack saw, cause' I'm an old hack. As SM said, the cold air intake is a better way to go. I went with the TURBOTUBE because I already have a K&N filter in mySmart and I am a cheap old guy, I don't throw things away, except that nasty old black plastic air box. I don't plan on going back again, either. Once you have the POWER you can't go back. Post your experiences with the TURBOTUBE. ALL of you thats going to the DRAGON, look out, Sporty Shorty is coming.
