Seriously though, are they still around?!? I thought they went the way of water (yes, H2O) injection systems of the 70's. (Am I aging myself?)

Cheers,

Apparently not required by law statewide. I've seen gas stations which have the ethanol notices posted. I know what they look like. I believe the notice is required by law if the station sells ethanol. The Chevron station if go to regularly still doesn't have it posted.

Update:

It looks like I might be getting a bit better mileage after all!

I'm at 260 miles with 2 fuel gauge blocks left! I've never had that with these 16 inch wheels and tires!

More update when it's empty...

Yeah, it's my wider tires... Plus, don't you have a cold air intake? A cai will make the mileage go up a tad...

Jet,

I know that there is more fuel being unburnt then the 1 - 2 % in that writeup. One reason they have the O2 and emissions systems. The computer uses the first and last O2sensors and the cata convertor for the unburnt fuel. Cars could be more fuel effienct if they adjusted to use less fuel for the piston burn. But, from other mechanics I talked to, you could only adjust a little due to some of the unburnt fuel is supposed to be a coolant of some sort. I am guessing that the Acetone test will work for a little while and then go back to normal the same reason HHO does. It starts putting out cleaner emmissions, the O2 sensor detects this, thus dumping more gas into the cylinders. Everyone that I know that have tested this get this effect. Good luck though.

I read the other acetone thread with interest, so PLEASE let Spumonti do his thing. If it makes him happy and he learns somthing and passes it on to the rest of us,then WE learn it ,too! As for me, I'm going to try OLIVE OIL, because I want to slick up my pistons an see if THAT smooths out my engine and gives me better mileage, WITOUT adding cholesterol to my wonderful new SMART. I'll keep ya' posted, boys!! CHEERS, SmartChip

Laugh if you want but I added a Tornado in the air cleaner line on my Expedition and it jumped 2 MPG. Not bad when you are only getting 15.. It has averaged 17 for the last 5 years and 240,000+ miles. Thats a whole lot of gas savings, well worth the 65 bucks I'd say.
