This app relies on the iPhone's internal accelerometers rather than an OBD II connection, so (speculating) it may give unusual acceleration and mileage readings due to the cars porpoising during gear changes, especially before full break-in has occurred. But for $6, who cares? If I had an iPhone, I'd give it a try.
I tried it and it works better than you would expect for $6. There is a calibration setting for "Pitch Angle" which compensates for the smart's unique up-down motion.
Overall the app is fun to play with but not a substitute for the Scanguage. Having a good mounting system for the iPhone would help a lot.
