Don't know if you could get much out of the engine.. but if you could come up with a mod for the tranny .l.. to give a manual clutch with not automatic.. even if it was still using the paddle shifters.. that would be what I would love to have... Alas, this is problably more of a software hack than a nuts and bolts one though... where are the old fashion computer hackers who could disassemble the code for the TCU and write it anew??

Barney, without a turbo it seems the only way to improve the current engine would be either more displacement or custom head and cam - either can certainly be done but pretty much from square one.

smart already has two turbo engines putting out 84 and 98 hp respectively; pretty much plug and play if (key word) the SAM and ECUs could be tweaked for US spec smarts. Just my .02.

Nice piece

Brabus007, I really like the Paxton Charger approach, so much that I had contacted them sometime back about the feasibility of coming up with a kit for the Smart. Didn't get a response. I suppose if a guy would to go it alone they would probably be more than happy to sell the components?

I found this small roots style supercharger and IMO it would be easier to adapt to the smart because of its small dimensions and ease of installation!

New AMR500 Supercharger - Geo Metro Mini-Cooper VW-Bug:eBay Motors (item 360214689023 end time Jan-03-10 16:56:33 PST)

I don't know this guy so I can't say anything other than his ebay feedback score, but he seems to be the only guy you can buy these things from here in the US at the moment.

Tried to PM the info to you but it didn't seem to work.

First order of business.
Set up a date next week at FC Customs, Springfield ILL. to dyno factory setup to initiate baseline for future mods. Will post results.
