Just fools the car into thinking the inlet air is colder so increases fueling.
Because the air isn't cool and as dense as it thinks it actually over fuels the engine. Not a good way to attempt to increase power.

Barney - nice rehash but I wouldn't have vented to the airbox. Condensed oil could drip onto the filter and reduce its filtering ability.
I think I remember hearing that our engines run a little rich anyway, but this made me wonder if a device could do the oposite - maybe good for mpg

How is the noise inside the car, I found without the resonator box the car is a lot noisier inside. Is the hose thick enough to act as a damper? Looks great though and very professional.

The radiator hose is approx. 3/16" wall thickness with a cloth thread core.
I have the Brabus exhaust and will say I have noticed an increase in engine volume under floorboard acceleration. I really would hate to label this as "noise" however. Let's face it, we always want more power
I call it , "Tim the Tool Man effect". It's music to my ears.
As for cruising down the highway or interstate I don't notice any significant increase. The wife would definetly let me know otherwise!!
If the wife's happy everybody's happy.... Know wat I mean Vern?

BARNEY O. It's all about Performance.......Otherwise leave the cover on the motor and step away from the car.

...well put there purple dragon...happy wife...happy life..
..I did run my car without the box and without the hose...straight throttle body and let me tell you...under heavy acceleration and up to 3k rpm's you could not see out the rear view mirror, the vibration and noise level was something that will rattle the fillings right out of your teeth....after installing the short hose the vibration went away and the noise is quite sweet under the same conditions...

jetfuel...not too loud

Barney, I see what Kane is saying but if you put in a K&N or similar filter you potentially have an "auto oiling" system.

Jwight, would you please give more insight on your theory.
If your blowing out oil you have bigger issues.. There would be an "auto oiling" situation going on with factory hookup so there is no difference other than the air filter would become a diaper for your ailing engine if it's vented thru the air cleaner box.Think about this concept, your passing all this oil and you have a bone stock induction system where is the oil going? Can you say, "mosquito fogger"
As I have said before and will say again, "At the end of the day your gonna do it the way you want"

This thread was introduced as an alternative to the aftermarket products. I didn't offer this as a buy now product, it was offered to the DIY'er that is price savy. With many years behind an engine dyno I have considerable knowledge of ways to produce power. I enjoy having dialogue with other individuals who can talk the talk by offering sound input to a problem or idea. Until you can explain your theory I would say your on "Autopilot"

Regards,Barney O.

good deal for your old hose

Hey BP didn't you buy the SmartMadness silicone tube? I'll tell you what - now that you have that old pipe sitting on your shelf, I'll pay you the $30 to cover for the parts of your new hose plus $10 more for your R&D and add in shipping to my house to buy the old silicone hose? Great deal right?

Please make sure you wipe all that oil out of the hose before sending it to me tho

you have the addresss...

Why would anyone buy a silicone hose when this works just as well for WAY less? The color that no one will see? I won't be venting the crankcase into the air filter box. The environmental impact is equal to a chili dinner.
