2009 - Rally Red Cabrio due to arrive in next month or so.
Have been researching and thinking. Appreciate feedback on any or all my planned additions. Thanks to those who responded on single posts. But I thought it made more sense to consolidate my info on one thread... Listed is my estimated cost, chime in if you know of a good deal or a good vendor...

Stripes- Like the dual diagonal racing stripes - $60 (Black)

Floor Mats - Like the Smart OEM - Rubber - $50

Air Scoop - Like the Evil Twin Scoop in Black - $60

Luggage Cover- Smart OEM - $150

First Aid Kit - Smart OEM - $215

Armrest - Like the Smart Madness one a bit more than Genius - $300

Fuel Cover - Brabus - $85

Cruise - Area 451 + Install - $500 + install

Trailer Hitch - E trailer - $150 + Install
- Golf Bag Holder - $375
- Luggage Tray - $125
- Spare Tire Mount - $100
- Spare Tire with Cover - $100+?
(Will use class 1 hitch with attachment, based on need)

Audio- Will add removable (quick connect/disconnect) subwoofer box, not sure about radio upgrade. - ???

Radar Detector- Like a wired version that leave 12V plug free.

Homelink- Not sure, suggestions? Want something with minimal install issues.

I told you it was a laundry list... No desire for engine mods, ground effects, wheels, ect....

Thanks for any and all feedback... Vendors are welcome to reply as well...

Just my .02, YMMV, etc.

Rubber mats - worth every penny - tested in Ohio and they work.

Luggage cover - pricey but worth it.

First aid kit - don't have one but surely you could assemble one for less than that.

Fuel door cover - what's the point?

Radar detector - ditto.

Spare tire - only if you're really paranoid. Extra weight, less mpg, etc.

In the end, your car, your money so go for it.

I drive long distances with my job... Not really paranoid, but it will drop MPG some...

I realize the Brabus cover is kind of a "poser" upgrade... But it will look good with Black Tridon and black top...

Here's what I carry in the tailgate storage area (I have the "standard" kit in my smart and carry the "pocket plugger" kit on my 2 wheeler) :
Buy Now: Stop n Go Tire Repair Kits Motorcycle Flat Tire | Pashnit

You can use the "on board" compressor to inflate the tire

Stripes- Like the dual diagonal racing stripes - $60 (Black)

Stripes looks good on the Smart (Design is up to you).

.

.

Floor Mats - Like the Smart OEM - Rubber - $50

I will highly recommend floor mats.

Air Scoop - Like the Evil Twin Scoop in Black - $60

I have the scoop installed for a few month now and loving it.

Luggage Cover- Smart OEM - $150

Cover is worth the price. Easy to remove if you`ll need to transport large items.

First Aid Kit - Smart OEM - $215

I have mine assembled for the fraction of the cost.

Armrest - Like the Smart Madness one a bit more than Genius - $300

If you drive a lot, armrest is a very good addition to the smart.

Fuel Cover - Brabus - $85

Here is mine ($20)

.

Cruise - Area 451 + Install - $500 + install

On my list of upgrades too.

Trailer Hitch - E trailer - $150 + Install
- Golf Bag Holder - $375
- Luggage Tray - $125
- Spare Tire Mount - $100
- Spare Tire with Cover - $100+?
(Will use class 1 hitch with attachment, based on need)

If you drive just by yourself, golf bag fits perfectly inside the car.
I am not sure about spare tire. In 20 years of driving I NEVER used a spare tire. I carry a jack, $5 tire repair kit and AAA card.

Audio- Will add removable (quick connect/disconnect) subwoofer box, not sure about radio upgrade. - ???

Radar Detector- Like a wired version that leave 12V plug free.

I do not have one in the Smart, but if you drive fast you might want to have one installed. Got pulled over few days ago, but talked my way out of the ticket.

Homelink- Not sure, suggestions? Want something with minimal install issues.

You can buy Homelink remote from ebay for about $30. Somebody posted DIY here few weeks ago. Here is the photo of one installed I found online.

Good luck with the car. You will like it.
I would also recommend ScangaugeII

Not interested in low-dust brake pads?
Slotted rotors will help even wear on the pads (and rotors); I got slotted to help with wet braking, something I've always been paranoid about.
It's not an engine mod: how about a higher-flow air filter?
I like my factory exhaust fine but others like the aftermarkets.

...and I love my instrument-cluster cruise control indicator! It's not part of the standard Area451 cruise control package.

A matter of taste, I guess... IMHO, the fuel door looks better if it matches the body color. I'm even pondering taking the OEM air intake grille off of my car and spraying it metallic blue to match the body panels (so much for the argument about the black fuel door matching the black intake).

But it's your car; if you want the Brabus piece, gopher it.

If you want HomeLink (not some crap out of a junk yard) and an auto dimming mirror with compass go to mitocorp.com they have an adaptor that makes any of their mirrors fit on the smart, you only have to connect flying leads, hot, ground, and ignition hot.
