I have a cabrio and love the wind deflector. It really makes a difference when the top is down. - sheureka (who lives in southern Arizona and has the top down most of the time)

Depends on the short antenna in question... The stubby one Chrysler uses on the Sebring trunk mount fits the Smart base, and it's a full-wave coil-loaded FM aerial in summat like 1/4 of the length.

I have one of those on order from the UK... Beats me why SmartUSA doesn't offer it over here; it just makes sense to have one.

(for that matter, it beats me why they don't just give one out with every cabrio sold as part of the oem running gear...)

Those that have the new MDC unit that we offer consider it just as good if not better than the 451 unit. Both are good units, but the MDC is much easier to install and now comes with a Sprint Booster like module that is a $300 value. We also have 2-3 versions without the Sprint Booster like module left in stock and can sell those for $389.99. They are not on our site. If you are interested in one of them give us a call directly at 562-961-6800.

Thanks!

Getting closer to Home...

I have a week's vacation coming up when the tour reaches Chicago, and I plan on spending it in the driveway, twiddling wrenches on my Cabrio. Here's my "laundry list"...

Front & rear de-badging

Cruise control (Area451 w/John_H's dash LED)

Armrest (Smart Madness; the adjustable model)

Headlamps (Smart Madness; black w/blue trim, matches the car)

New horn (Nautilus 139dB from Aerostich)

Color-matched spoiler, valance, side skirts, fuel door & air intake (SmartPartsDirect)

Carbon fiber roll bar trim (Smart Madness) w/cabrio wind screen

Front & rear bumpers (Breathess)

Sound system; Pioneer AVH-4100DVD & Polk db675 speakers and sound-deadening (thanks, brian_r!)

Fog lamps (lamps from eBay, button bar ordered from my smartCenter)

That'll do for a start. I plan on doing a lot of carbon fiber trim on the interior, and getting a set of custom black gauge faces from Harald at parts4smarts.ca, too.

Long-term plans include intake and exhaust work, blacked-out 17" wheels with decent tires for good weather, keeping the OEM alloys with a set of Blizzacks for winter driving.

EDIT: ...And a CF stubby antenna. Thanks, Terry!

There's a person in one of the Detroit suburbs (Westland, maybe?) that sells all sorts of different style stripe kits on eBay. Search for "smart car stripe." I think his seller name is "313edward313" or something like that. If you contact him privately, maybe he can custom-cut some vinyl for you.

Barring that, most any sign shop will have a vinyl cutter that could do custom stripes to your specs. Probably not cheap, though...

No worries; I won't get home to work on the Cabrio for another month or so.
