Moon roof sunshade

I just installed the sunshade from SmartMaddness thursday and what a difference it made on the heat from my greenhouse roof it must be 40 degrees cooler. It's worth every every penny you pay for it. Fits a little tight on the factory sunshade but i won't be removing it any time soon. Next thing is to tint the windshield with clear tint , used it in my prius and it made a big difference. And before i forget SmartMaddness is real good to deal with, very nice and professional bunch of guys. Thanks for the good service guys. BOB.

Im sure it keeps the interior cool
But I would still keep my eye out for crazing
Passion Coupe Owners - Is your roof crazing?
The added heat your reflecting back at the roof may become a bigger problem

I live in HOT Dallas, TX. my car is in the sun while at work (40hr week). I also bought the sunroof sunscreen from Smartmadness. No problems with the glass yet.

You are right, It is too snug, and hard to slide into place between the glass and ultra thin paper/fabric pull screen thingy. I think that is my fault, I got the first one b/c they asked me to measure the sunroof when I ordered.
Hey, it isn't the easiest thing to measure, standing sort of on your head with NO one to "hold that end of the measuring tape will ya".

Next one to order, please tell them to cut an inch off the length and 1/2 off the width of there pattern. I trimmed mine with scissors and it is better now. I put it in that slot WHITE side up towards the glass and silver side down. A guy in my Dallas Smart car club told me he does that to have it work like that "radiant barrier" stuff they put in your attic to keep the house cooler. Silver side toward the house side not the roof side.
I think this helps keep the car cooler and puts less heat on the glass itself.

Vicki from Dallas

P.S. it is easier to slide into place from back towards the front, with the pull screen closed, there is a slot you can see when standing at the open hatchback.

I know it is just a matter of time before the roof plastic will craze so when it does I will paint my roof and make a headliner with insulation in it . I wanted to do that now but my wife thinks it won't look good and is afraid for me do it. I told her I work at a body shop and would not be painting it with a brush or a roller , it would be painted by my painter who has 25 years experience . So for now I will settle for the shade , when you buy an orphan you take what you can get. Bob.

There has got to be a way to retrofit a solid roof like they offer for 2009 models.

If not, once the warranty is out, I will have a race shop removed the poly and weld a piece of metal.

Thanks for the kind words Bob. White side up sounds kind of interesting...

Vicki THANK YOU for your effort....I will let Boris in on the info and hopefully we can make the shade that much better!

Back when I was selling MBZ vehicles with pano roofs I would advise them about a light tint....cuts down on the heat also while not being as "reflective" ....just another way to layer your insulation.

As far as fitment we have had a few customers cut off the cups and add another inch or so of clearance...just an FYI for those who dont use the roof that often and want easier fitment options

Happy motoring
Sergio
