Need quick answer... 12v port power?

I'm going to the Lombard Street Event tomorrow and want to bring my GPS. I've used it in the smart before, but I've noticed that the cigarette lighter (12v port) is only powered when the ignition is "ON".

Is there an easy way to make this port an "always on" port, so I can charge my phone and use my GPS without the key being on?

Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know if you can do it tonight, but you can take power from one of the non-switched terminals on the fusebox. Think you'd need an inline fuse also.

R5 - R8 here.

12v socket is fuse 21.

I power my GPS from the cig socket. When I turn off the car and the lighter power goes off, my GPS says "Power removed, do you want me to stay on or power off?"

Garmin GPS has its own rechargeable battery. Pretty cool.
