I feel like an idiot. I just spent about 4-5 hours trying to remove the stock exhaust on a Passion Smart. I'm trying to get it off so I can install a Breathless Exhaust. The website states "It is a very easy install". Yes, it would be if I could find a tool to get at those two 12mm star bolts (flange). I have a 3/8" 12mm star socket and I bought all sorts of socket wrench adapters. The problem is the exhaust cover doesn't really give you room. I removed the valence and I'm considering taking off the black painted bumper panels, but I'm still not sure I could access it. I might just run down to Midas and see what they'd charge.
I think a 12mm star wrench would probably be easier, but autozone doesn't have them. I can't put my socket wrench on them unless I use a 90 degree adapter and that seems to not give it enough torque to loosen it. It's a really tight area with about everything possible in your way. Sigh.
Our Products at Breathless Performance
I failed at step 3...the bolt on the flex tube was easy enough but getting at those two exhaust pipe bolts is needlessly ridiculous.
Try to get the car on a lift or at least 2 feet in the air.
1. You should remove your lower valance, just a couple push pins on the ends and a few tabs in the center.
2. Use the template we provide to make and cut the opening.
3. Loosen and remove the 2 flange bolts at the top of the muffler and one on the flex tube.
4. Spray wd 40 on the rubber mounts that hold the muffler in place.
5. Slide the rod of the muffler brace out of the rubber mounts one at a time.
6 Take you stock muffler out.
7 Put our new muffler in place just reverse the procedure. The gasket is re-useable.
