New, quieter exhaust for Smart

The company "4smartcar" paid DTH to build a custom cat-back exhaust for them for the Smart 451: http://www.4smartcar.com/servlet/StoreFront. The result is a dual tip version of the current DTH cat-back system. The big difference is the dual tips allow for a quieter exhaust note than the single pipe DTH version.

So, if you have not bought an exhaust system and you want something fairly quiet, the 4smartcar model is sweet. I sold my DTH single tip and bought a dual tip from 4smartcar.

It looks like a very nice exhaust. I have a question: DTH advertises +14 TQ (at the crank I suspect). So 68 lb/ft + 14 lb/ft = a 21% increase over stock.

That is pretty impressive for a simple cat back upgrade. Have you seen a dyno sheet to back up that claim?

I have yet to see 4smartcar post anything about that here. They have a video on youtube but I can hardly heard the exhaust note.

Who here actually ordered it?

I wouldn't mind hearing it in person, but I think this is my favorite one yet.

My only concern would be the drone inside the car at highway speeds.

I liked the BPP product, but I heard the sport, and I think it was a bit too loud for my tastes - and I don't think the touring would be quiet enough.

I would love to have something with the same amount of noise level as say, an Infiniti G35 coupe (I love that exhaust note, kind of similar to my VUE's modded exhaust actually).

The exhaust sounds nice, looks beautiful and is lighter than stock.

The video shows that the claimed +14 TQ + 6 HP occur between 2300 and 2500 rpm only (at the start of the measurement) and from there on there is zero difference between stock and DTH, meaning that the brief increase is probably due to a dyno error (or a hard gear shift).

To really benefit from this exhaust, the engine needs a better flowing air filter and a fine tuning of the fuel/timing (ECU).

I suspect that if all of the above - intake, ECU & exhaust - are properly done, we could see between 5 to 10% increase in torque and power.

It's quieter than their single tip. But how much louder is it than stock?
