Here's another vid, though you can't really hear the note when the presenter was talking.

You know all these while I never quite knew that the performance increase on the smart is more on the lower-end and the higher-end, which I was more used to when looking at a dyno.

And yes, a complement ECU tuning will certainly help.

Hi Vince,

I did not exactly get your point, but what I am trying to say is that the exhaust looks good and sounds nice, but bring zero performance advantage as demonstrated by 4SmartCar's own dyno pull. In itself, it is not a bad result as I have seen some expensive custom exhausts (not for smart) which actually produced lower power and torque!

Cheers!

lol! I think I worded my post a little different...

So from my past experiences, when I usually get my race car on a dyno, we often look for the top-end performance. For instance, +15hp at 6000RPM or +15lb-fts at 3500RPM etc. Granted the peak torque is usually in the mid-range RPM.

For a while I wasn't able to study a smart dyno sheet in all its clarity until this video. There were so many 6hp/14lb-ft claims being thrown around and I thought it was in the top/mid range as well. But turns out to be in the low-end. That's what I meant.

Yes, the rest of the RPM range seems rather blend compared to stock.

A bump in low end power and quieter. This is looking better and better. Thanks for the posts guys.

Quieter than their one-exhaust muffler, no one has said if it is quieter than stock.

But at least for those of us that want a center exhaust and less noise, they're moving in the right direction. I had the drone in my last ride and don't want it again, but I just love the look of the center exhaust on the smart. Nice to see that things are moving along nicely, thanks for listening vendors!

To really benefit from this exhaust, the engine needs a better flowing air filter and a fine tuning of the fuel/timing (ECU).

I suspect that if all of the above - intake, ECU & exhaust - are properly done, we could see between 5 to 10% increase in torque and power.
That's good, but looks like the power and torque gain is only between 2000 and 3000 rpm. What's the use? Who actually drives between 2000 & 3000? Basically, this exhaust is just for looks. How about a power and torque curve that are above the stock curves across the entire rpm range and being quiet. I hate to be negative, but that's how I interpret the above print out.

What I find rather fascinating is the sudden abundance of discussion on the dyno sheets now. And in fact the single tipped DTH exhibit the same trend as well where I don't recall much discussion there.

CES's dyno looks a bit confusing.

Now waiting for Works.

The point is, for less than $400.00, you improve the dog slow low-end stock performance to a more enjoyable ride. The only problem with the single tip DTH is the exhaust drone at highway speed. So, order the 4smartcar dual tip or wait for WORKS.
