Oops (Re: cruise control)

I picked up Lil Cyd on Friday and installed the Area451 cruise control yesterday (Sunday). Unfortunately, the young man helping me remove the pins got a little overzealous and removed one too many (gray/violet). I've narrowed it down to either: 53, 61, 67, 69, 70, 76, 77 or 79. I have a 2009 Passion with the comfort package, extra instruments, alarm and fogs. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks...

I've sent an e-mail to the admin over there. Also, to the service manager at Buckhead.

Or write a note to Steven @ smartieparts... he may be able to talk you through it.

Duh

I figured it out. Looking at the photo from the installation instructions, it is clear that pin 67 is occupied by what looks like a gray/purple wire. Am finishing it up and will let you know how it goes.

That's what happened to me the first time I tried to install it. Exactly the same wire and I was able to find it by looking at the picture. I was really sweating it for a while. Engine wouldn't turn over but my stomach did! Luckily I went back at it about a hour later and figured it out.

Don't feel bad - a few of us had problems almost exactly like yours. I installed mine without instructions so something was bound to go wrong - - - it did - - - I did the same exact thing dichrodave did. I read the direction online earlier but the site was down while I was installing it, myself and another member here talked ourselves through it. He had partially memorized the part of the directions I forgot so after a phone call to him he filled in my missing blanks.

Yeah, I was a little worried when I reinserted the pin, wrapped the control box in bubble wrap and buttoned up everything, then put the connector to the battery terminal and the radio came on (the key wasn't in the ignition). I continued tightening the connector and waited a minute (per pilot500's tips), then put everything back in the passenger's footwell. Fired her up and all is well. Took her for a spin and set the cruise at 45 (back road) and removed my foot from the gas; sweeeet. Next, put her on a highway and set to 60; no problems. Now I'm set for some road trips. To Buckhead this weekend to pick up the rest of my goodies (car cover, CD holder and divider net). Later to Savannah and then the spring meet in FL.

You got me scared about self-install... Wish dealer would do this...

I told you I'd come install it for you... I'm always up for a good road trip

If you'd like to wait a couple of months I can install it at the April meet in Tallahassee if you'd like.
