Cisco,
I find it rather unfortunate that since we have decided to no longer carry your product line that you choose to go down this path.
Rachel and I just got back from spending a week displaying our smart cars at the SEMA show and were surprised to find out that while we were away your were blasting us and a product we carry on every smart car forum. A number of our customers emailed us threads on smartusainsider.com, 451s.com and on this forum in which you go on and bad mouth us, our team and a product we carry.
Let me address one issue at a time:
"Mine was the latest and greatest." - You had the first generation of the SOLO exhaust that you personally insisted we mount on your car because you did not like the Borla exhaust you got at no charge from Borla. You went on to say how much you disliked the Borla and how much you loved the SOLO.
SOLO has since come out with newer versions that have flex pipes and a different muffler design that reduce the exhaust noise even more.
"I also had some serious problems with the exhaust due to poor installation job." - It is really unfortunate that you make this statement. Tim (the installer) has years of experience working on cars and has probably installed more smart car exhaust systems than anyone in the US (or close to it). There was nothing wrong with the way your exhaust was installed. A couple of months after having the exhaust on your car you called me on a Sunday and stated that your exhaust fell apart. Based on what you were telling me that did not sound right. I asked you to check under your car and see if the exhaust was still there and describe the condition of the unit (since you were a manufacturer of smart car performance parts I assumed that you could tell what the issue was. I was wrong!). Since you could tell me what was wrong and it was a Sunday I asked you to take it by a local muffler shop so they could check it out. I also offered to pay for the repair if it was broke.
You then called me and told me that a bolt was getting loose and the muffler shop charged you $80 to replace a bolt! ($80 to put on a bolt? As agreed we compensated you for this bolt). Just an FYI...You never paid Tim to install the exhaust. It was done as a favor since you were a business partner and a friend at the time and we carried your products.
"My exhaust came apart and the crush gasket was burned up and unusable. No support after that." - You told us a bolt came loose and a muffler shop nearby put a new one in. We could have insisted that you drive back to our shop for the repair, but since it was a Sunday and I wanted to make sure you were quickly taken care of I asked you to swing by a nearby muffler shop and offered to cover the repair cost.
"I have had the Solo Exhaust and find it to be too loud and honestly not much power at all." - That is not what you said originally. Here is a copy of your original post on the exhaust (when we were still selling your products):

"Solo Performance Exhaust - Good to the Ears
Originally I had the Borla Exhaust prototype I guess I had it for a few months. I have to admit the sound of Borla is pretty nice. it's deep and very smooth sounding. The problem is the sound in the cabin is overwhelming. It vibrates your eardrums constantly, like if you are in a rock concert. Since my commute is a little longer than before, I really noticed it. I actually started wearing earplugs, no joke! Well, it was getting old and didn't want to end up with a loss of hearing in the next few months.
How did I fix it?
I swapped it out for a Solo Performance Exhaust. Did it make a difference? Yes, it did. I was very impressed by the sound and the fact that it was significantly quieter in the cabin, yet it has this killer roar that you can hear from the outside. There is no 2500 and 4500 rpm drone that I experienced with the Borla. The Solo Performance also has some good pickup. Possibly more power but I will have to update this in the next few days to confirm. I think it's one the best exhaust out there. It has the power you need without hurting your ears. But it still has that nice sound that everyone looks for.
Cisco"
Here is another comment made by you:
"The Solo Exhaust made such a big difference even my daughter noticed it right away. She nearly thanked me."
And another:
"I want to stress that according to my driving habits, the Borla was too loud for me. It may be different for you. The hum of the Borla exhaust is very unique and deep.
I want to emphasize on this thread how great the Solo Performance exhaust is. The more I drive it, the more I am liking it. "
You now state the following:
"...honestly not much power at all."
In a prior post (when we still carried your product line) you state this:
"It is nice during regular driving but when you need power, it will give you the kick at the higher RPM's."
"I think you will be better off with the Doug Thorley's Quiet System." - Now you seem to be pitching a competing system offered by a competing vendor. Hhhmmm.
In case someone wants to see the original thread where Cisco praises his new SOLO here is the direct link:
Solo Performance Exhaust - Good to the Ears
Cisco, you chose to go on to a public forum and bad mouth us, our techs and a product that we carry. In addition, you chose to spread false information about our business practices. I thought you were better than this, but I guess I was wrong.
We (smart madness and smart car performance) chose to go our separate ways for reasons I am sure you would rather I not mention on a public forum. At that time we wished you luck and offered our support in your new business venture.
You are better than this and I truly hope you focus on growing your business by developing, manufacturing and selling good quality products for the smart community and not by bad mouthing other vendors and former partners.
PS. Please note... As you know I left you a Voice Mail last month in which I was very angry. I left it for you because of my personal frustration with the fact that you were not acknowledging Rachels' many attempts to contact you so you could take care of your obligations and promises. As requested by you Rachel was contacting you with customers product issues that needed resolution and you were not returning numerous emails, voice mails and instant messages. After a weeks of trying to get you to honor your obligations to us and most importantly to your customers I got frustrated and lost my cool. For that you have my sincerest apologies.
To those of you that have accidentally stumbled on to this thread please accept my and Rachels apologies as it is never our intention to have to share unfortunate business issues in a public forum.
Respectfully,
Boris
