The spikes are the controversial vortex generators. Another thread debating the use of vgs still going on and on and on. Some saying they help keep the winter road grime off. I put them on after the last snow. So I don't know about that. But I put them on because I wanted to see if they helped with hiway speed side winds. And I think they made a noticable differance. Not a big differance but noticable. But others say that there is no way they make any diff. I think I only paid $19 for them. So if only a minis. diff. Who cares. Both look great with black n black mirrors. I couldn't afford the brabus head lights so I melted them apart myself and painted (a bit of a pain but only about $20)
