I've read a ton of posts here involving mods that have various wires being run through the dash in various locations (cruise controls, &c.), and one thing has struck me: The tool used to snake the wires through.
Instead of a coathanger or aluminum wire, what we used to use, back when I worked in the autosound industry in the early 12th Century, was an old speedo cable core. It has just the right combination of flexibility and stiffness to make snaking wires through a dash passageway or steering column a breeze (we used to use one to pull OEM cruise control cabling on GM cars through the steering column - a *very* tight space)... Just snake the cable core through the passageway, tape your wires onto one end with electrical tape (Super 33, et.al.), gently pull the "fish tape" through, and Bob's your uncle.
You can probably find one for pennies at a junkyard. Give it a try and see how nice it works.
