Question RE: secondary air injection pump

Before I claim victory, can anyone physicaly confirm that the secondary air pump - that turbine sounding thing- will come on when the coolant is at around 70 degrees F? The documentation says between 7 and 36 degree C, but the manual isn't always right.

Thanks

How do we know what the coolant temp is? smart very cleverly left out our temp gauge. Are you looking for the max temp at which the pump comes on?

I use an OBDII tool like scan guage, or others. Since I no longer have the pump I wanted to make sure that is SHOULD have turned on when the coolant temp was 70. Starting the car after it sat overnight would be good enough too....

Sorry, Tom. You want specs! and we ALL know how elusive those things are! How is your little project coming along?
I notice that it does and does not turn on in the a.m. depending on temp but have not made note of actual temp. It is probably too warm to turn on today. I'll start making notes.

The 'little' project is progressing well, very well. This is a small diversion where I made a modification to eliminate that CEL for a missing air pump while I was doing some other stuff down there. Would like to double check that I really did find a way to stop that CEL

I don't remember. It hasn't come back since my mod. It was definitely the Secondary Air Injection system.

Well, it was 76 degrees outside. Once the engine started, the scangauge's first coolant temp was 84. The air injection pump ran! That was checked about 6:15 this a.m. I didn't drive the BB yesterday at all so coolant temp is due to our record breaking 98 degrees here yesterday. As I listened to the air pump, I watched the coolant temp almost immediately go to 92 degrees. It warms rapidly.
