even putting in an armrest will fall into that catagory. it was not crash tested with an armrest. you see where this can go.

I think it is a personal choice and I change stuff on my car if I want.

I don't know many people who don't have some kind of personal touches on their car, I think most will fall into the "is it safe" catagory. even some stuffed animal on the dash? "Oh my! it flew in front of the driver's field of view and cause the accident"

Required

The orange reflector is required on all vehicles used / sold in the US.

Do what you will, but its required. Just as brake lights are required red.
You've got to have red reflectors to the rear of your car.

Its a US standard.
