The brake, tail, turn signal and rear marker are all listed as one bulb on p 254 of the manual. I assumed that if the LED "bulb" replaced the brake light, it would perform the other functions as well. But, I really don't know that for a fact.

But, I have rapid flashing now ... that's how I discovered the rear bulb is burned out.

And, thanks mvaldes, I'm a little embarrassed that I didn't go check the manual before posting. I would be interested in an LED alternative though, and had my mind on that, instead of looking there.

Good to know they're all the same bulb. Simplifies matters a bit.
Phillips P21/5W according to another thread.

Good one Digger! So, it looks like the LED is just enough of a load to prevent the hyperflashing ... while what I've got is a burned out bulb and I'm getting hyperflashing? Hmmm, that's an open circuit, hyperload.

OK, I don't understand the reason, but from the post you linked to I would be OK replacing the turn signal bulbs with LEDs (but only in the rear). And, the ones at smartPitStop which mvaldes pointed to would be the right ones.

Right?

If not, what bulb do I need?
My taillight went out, too. The info in the manual is no help at Kragen's. The manual merely tells you it is a 12V 5W bulb. Kragen doesn't list the smart in their database, but you can get access to the bulb in about 2 minutes with no tools through the service panel in the cargo area. For $4 you can buy an over the counter Sylvania 7225 replacement two-bulb pack and be driving home in less then 10 minutes.

Maybe not as cool as LEDs, but it is just as, if not more, functional. And waaaaay less hassle factor.

Thanks geosynch. That's probably the route I'll take. Yeah, LEDs would be cool. But, simple is usually better. I should've known better than to think there was a simple LED solution.

A few days ago our right side suddenly began flashing rapidly when the turn signal was used. When we arrived at our destination we immediately checked the system. It was discovered that the rr was not working. I wacked the light with my palm hard and voila it worked again. So no load does mean rapid flashing.

Did you already replace the third brake light to LED?
Did you see inside the light housing??
Mine was burned due to the heat of original bulb.
Also, did your third brake light waterful when it rains?

I change the side light, parking light, interior light, third brake light, and number plate light to LED. The rear fog light was slightly on when I only turned on the side light, so I keep it remain incandesence light. Also the interior light is slightly on when the side light is on, I replaced it with special interior LED light for euro car. FYI

So to sum things up...Can you put LEDs in the front with OEM bulbs in the backand side and not have hyper flash?
