Seeking high quality shocks and struts

I do not wish to lower my Smart 451 Passion Coupe, which will stiffen the ride. To improve the ride I have now with OEM shocks and struts, I am seeking the highest quality shocks and struts money can buy. Any advice?

The Bilstein gas shock absorbers (no suspension drop) are not listed on the on-line store! They are MIA.

So you want to soften (improve) the ride via changing the shocks?

I have installed 16" tires and wheels. Now I am targetting the shocks and struts hoping to soften/improve the ride.

During the very early stages of the smart's development, there used to be a controversy in Europe about how often the car would flip in sharp turns. It took some doing to get a compromise deemed safe enough to be put on the market and on the roads. That happened to be the 450.
The decision to adapt the car for the US, with the help on new technology, produced the 451.

To alter the balance that Engineers fine tuned over years of research and efforts may compromise its behavior; not to mention release the manufacturer from its warranty responsibilities.
Beware!

Not just my observation, but a note from Smartville... (as per a conversation with O. Amélineau, smart Media & PR Representative, Daimler France).

Yep, not there. They have an e-mail link; why don't you ask them about the shocks. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any listed for the smart on Bilstein's USA website.
