It can be combined with an aftermarket exhaust or stock exhaust. It will be much louder though because you are removing the cat. A high flow cat would do nothing but kill any power gained from the header. The stock obd11 cats are EXTREMELY efficient but the manifold is not. Unfortunately there is not enough room to make a header and retain a cat. The factory manifold is very crude and there is not any equalty amongst cylinders. That is where the header really shines. It will throw a check engine light but it WILL NOT cause any drivability issues nor is it bad for the car in any way. It would strictly be a light on the dash. We are currently working on a fix for that. It is available through any of our dealers and is backed by our lifetime warranty.

Thanks
Nick

FWIW - I thought I remembered seeing something about a 'fake O2 sensor' or other creative ways to prevent the CEL and I found it at the link below. There are O2 simulators that just fool the ECU, but one of the posters (several down in the link) suggested a very inexpensive workaround. Not that I would ever do it, but for those with the inclination...

fake out O2 sensor - Performance Message Board

There a a couple of ways to get around a CEL with out a cat. It is not legal though, and any state that has inspection would probably notice it. States that just do emmissions, you MIGHT be able to get away with it. Still, it is illegal run a car with no cat.

Great looking product, looks like there is a decent increase of power over the whole power band. I would love to see a full res of the dyno sheet though.

Has anyone that has installed the header seen the check engine light come on? I talked to someone at Doug Thorley who said he thought it was not an issue. Also I am wondering how loud it is playing through the stock muffler?
