Any of you guys/gals out there know what the headlamp is in the Smart 4/2? I want to do an HID conversion and haven't been able to fin out what bulbs go in the SMART, or even if it alreasy has HID. (I don't think it does, just projector headlamps from what I can tell.) Need more mod secitons.

It is an H7 bulb, I bought my kit from intendehid (username) on ebay, the key cost $ 80, made in Japan. 6000K is a very bright white.

Tiger,
Are both the bulbs and the ballast made in Japan?

That is what they claim, every component has Japanese writing. I have their kits in 4 of my cars and are very happy with them.

Did this include the ignitors and ballasts?

I had similar kits on my Vibe, and have a kit currently on my Saturn Vue. I ordered them from VVME and the prices weren't bad... it's just the shipping from China that kills me. And yeah... the 6000k was the best... I love them.

The thread that jwright linked to was interesting, but if HID kits are illegal, then why is HID a factory option for so many cars? (Dealer option for SMART, but they want $580 for a kit that I can get for less than a hundred including shipping. I check the parts... it's essentially the same kit in a different box.)

HID kits are only illegal if they are used in headlights that do not have projectors
