Okay, just so I'm clear here...

If I read this all correctly, what's happening here is you're grounding wire 36 on plug 8 of the SAM through the button bank, which trips the solenoid in the hatch and opens it, right?

I don't wish to appear dense; I'm just having a bit of difficulty wrapping my brain around Kane's instructions, for some reason. I think you're right; maybe he left out a crucial bit of explanation or instruction. I'm still not sure why you'd have to access the trunk, tap a wire, and run it back up to the button bank. So you now have two wires to connect to a button, but Kane's left us with only one terminal to connect to.

What am I missing?

I wondered the same thing Rigger. I don't plan on doing this mod, so I wasn't pursuing it, but the bit about wiring in the trunk didn't make sense to me either.

Rigger,

It is only ONE wire. You can do it thru the SAM OR thru the boot. I just run one wire from the button to the SAM and everything working just fine. If you do not want lower SAM unit and mess with it, you have an option to run ONE wire from the trunk. I hope it makes sense.

Aha! Reading Kane's page, I got the idea that you had to run two wires to the button bar; one from the SAM and another from the boot. (Surely I can't be the only one who got thrown by that, can I?)

Thanks, Cube...
