Sounds strange, but I joined to find a horn!

I purchased a used Pure 2006 and the horn is anemic!
I told my brother (the person from whim I bought the car, so I had good advice on its history and operation) that the first thing I had to park when driving the Smart was my ego. However the horn is just too large a blow to the ego and not enough blow so as to be considered a passing wind at any speed. I found the horn I need and it is ordered but to my surprise I am spelunking this forum and am pleased with the wealth of useful information I am finding about the Smart and its foibles.
Looks like I may become a regular! :

Welcome.

I had a Miata back in the day and quickly swapped out the OEM horn for a loud Italian air horn. It made a huge difference in making people aware that "Yes, there is a car currently occupying the space you're meandering into!" Not sure yet if I'm going to swap out the OEM horn on the smart . . .

+1 on the Wolo! It sounds much more "authorative"! The same horn is available under different brand names -- you'll find that information in other posts here along with installation hints. Most of the installation info is for the 451 model, but you should be able to tell from the pictures if your Pure has the same available space. If not, you shouldn't have much trouble finding a suitable mounting location. Go ahead and remove the front panels now -- you're going to want to eventually so this is a good excuse!

+2 on the Wolo. I had the Fanfare before it, and it's fine around town. But the Wolo is MUCH better on the interstates. Installation is simple too.

Go on eBay and do a search on:
air horn compact -triple -quad

This should turn up most of the Wolo Bad Boys and Stebel compacts available. The -triple -quad tag is to eliminate the larger air horns.
The Wolo and Stebel are probably two of the best for the smart being small and fairly easy to install.
Good luck~!
