Speed Force Racing Smart car turbo system

I just wanted to get back on here and let you guys know we are still around and doing well. We just recenlty moved into a new 7500 sg/ft shop and sort of droped the ball on the boards here. But now that we have settled in, we are back to make a name for ourselves and get more of you Smart owners turbocharged.

As you all know, we were the first company to introduce an OEM like tubrocharger system for the Smart 451 back in March! Since then we have sold over 30 of these systems! Our test car has reached well over 10,000 miles and still running strong. Recently, we felt comfortable enough to get a little more aggressive with our tuning on the Smart stage 2 system and we picked up another 50 ft/lbs of torque and have seen gains as high as 30 WHP in the midrange over the initial stage 2 turbo system results! And this is at 9 psi of boost. What this means to you is.................the car actually feels like a fast car now.Initially the turbo system transmformed the car for sure.It felt much quicker then a stock car or even a car with the tyical bolt-ons like CAI,exhaust,etc.......But now the car feels fast! It pulls you into your seat fast!

And to all of our existing customers, this new tune is available as a free upgrade for you!

Here is one of our distributors cars running at 15 psi of boost! Check it out! Its a fast Smart car!

I realize this if you want to run more boost u need the header. As I was saying the check engine light is on. I would have a problem with that

The SFR turbo system doesn't trigger the check engine light. There are users who have installed the SFR turbo with the Thorley header -- and that header throws a check engine light. You can rig a "sim" inbetween the downstream O2 sensor and the ECU which tricks the ECU and avoids light but the CEL has no effect on the performance of the car. Running a header is not necessary for increased boost levels. As long as your IAT's are in check -- you can run much higher boost to good effect. Larry, the SFR distributor up in San Francisco, has rigged an Air-Water intercooler and is seeing IAT's not much above ambient temps at any sane level of boost.

I believe the reason for installing the SFR turbo with a header is that it allows for a very quick install. If you get the rear suspension X beam out of the way (it's just 4 bolts), you can take off the entire stock exhaust as a unit and install the SFR turbo in it's place as a unit. This also allows for a quick swap back to the stock exhaust if needed.

The SFR turbo welds are works of art. Unlike a lot of other aftermarket welding that I've seen, the SFR welds are aircraft quality. The tubing welds look like they were properly done in a purge-tank from inspecting both the inside and the outside of the tubes. Some of the other aftermarket welding I've seen shows overheating and oxidation to the point that both the weld and the surrounding metals are fried to the point of embrittlement. The first rule of racing -- is that to finish first, first you must finish! The SFR turbo is definitely built to go the distance.

We have this set up on one of our smart cars (Rachels) and have installed the majority of the kits that have been manufactured by SFR.

Their quality has been top notch and the units have held up very, very well. If you have any questions on the set up please do not hesitate to give us call.

Does the top speed remains 90 mph, and the trans still take a long time to shift? I realize the trans shicting is a design issue, how about clutch longevity? do you have any 0-60 numbers?
