Trailer Hitch??

On some of the euro models I have seen a trailer hitch.
Does the manual say anything at all or does it specify a tow limit??

i can't imagine. especially since the max weight limit for occupants and cargo inside the car is 507lbs.

I'm more interested in a trailer hitch/system that will let me tow my smart behind my other car. Anyone know how that would work?

The German government's strict TUV certifies the smart fortwo to tow a maximum of 330kg (726 lbs) with a maximum tongue load of 30kg (66 lbs) so long as the total weight (vehicle + passengers + trailer + cargo) does not exceed 1240kg (2728 lbs).

The only reason Smart would differ from the government is for 'CYA' reasons.

doesn't mention towing in the manual. only "being towed". however, there are a couple of vague references to towing with:

"depending on whether you are towing a vehicle or being towed, the towering eye bolt can be screwed into threaded holes..."

"high outside temperatures, stop-and-go traffic, driving on long uphill grades, or driving at hight engine speed may increase the temperature of the engine compartment..."

i'm goint to guess that this manual will get an upgrade pretty quick. they seem to have left out a few important things.
