After having my smart for seven months I started getting bored with it.
It seemed to be a little quicker than it was when I bought it, but not as responsive as I thought it should be. After lurking in the shadows of this forum and reading a bunch of threads I decide to try some things. I Got hold of the people at SmartMadness. I placed an order and had it shipped to My brother in St. Louis.
Last month I drove it from the Keys to St. Louis, 1375 miles. I go every year to participate in the Mardi Gras. While there I got to take it apart and Paint it. I added the side air scoop, K&N filter with the air cool tube, Doug Thorley cat-back exhaust system, and a Sprint Booster power converter chip. According to the manufacturer this adds 15 h.p. to the 70 h.p. it started with. What a difference. While I had the car apart I covered the 4 inner fender wells with 3/8 closed cell foam for road noise. I also covered the insides of my door skins and tail gate. The project was a success. I no longer hear the road noise, now I just hear the cat back exhaust. I am so happy with these mods.
