Do they make an aftermarket turocharger for the 451?

I understand Bigperformance in the UK is working on a kit.

Alternatively, one may purchase from Europe all the needed parts from the factory turbo cars and adapt them on our cars here.

I have been searching far and wide and have not found one yet... Waiting to see what BigPerformance comes up with... afraid that is will cost way too much though. I think he is also working on a NA supercharger, but I don't see that fitting. Not sure how the turbo will fit either though.

No turbo for USA Smart cars,......, yet.

Because USA is just now understanding fuel economy. It took high gas pricess to wake us up.

What does that have to do with anything? A turbo engine is more volumetricly efficient and if it is driven on a light throttle it can get better economy than a non boosted engine. If you stuff your foot into it, it will certainly burn more fuel because it can, not because it has to.

Can, but doesn't, not in the smart's case anyway.

I have owned almost 10 turbocharged vehicles and I can tell you right now, while that is a great theory, it is never ever the case in real life.

How does a turbocharged vehicle on light throttle get better economy than a normally aspirated engine anyway? If you're on boost, you're on fuel.

By 2010 or 11 all of the Mercedes-Benzes will be turbo or supercharged. With electronic management, direct fuel injection etc., the forced induction engines will bring power and torque in a much smaller/lighter package. Also, fuel burn is much more efficient (lower fuel burn) at high compression (see diesel engines).

The new 7-series BMW comes in three flavors: diesel, 6 inline and V8: all of them are FI.

The future is turbo (super) charged: clean, efficient and powerful.

I totally agree dude...
Unless you're not on the gas, your fuel consumption will be equal or greater than normally aspirated vehicles.
