TURBO kit is coming!

Today at the Orlando Event Breathless announced that they will release Turbo kit for the North American 451 Smart in the couple of weeks. BPP is aiming at additional 30 to 50 hp. DIY bolt on installation.

Can't wait to see the final product.

Jesus, another 50hp in a Smart is like putting 250hp into a Camry. I'd love to see a video.

I thought that the tech specs show the transmission's only rated for something like 80-85hp. Do the Smartuki conversions involve a transmission upgrade also?

Nope,
It is bolt on turbo kit with ECU flash.

Sorry did not read your question all the way thru......
I believe that Smartuki conversion is not using factory Getrag transmission.

One would assume that the OEM Getrag is good-to-go with the 98ps Euro Brabus, so +30 isn't extreme. It won't be ultimate horsepower that stresses the transmission, but, the increased torque involved.

I wonder about the shift points and the turbo? Should result in higher RMPs through the gears prior to shifting due to the difference in the power curve.

Only if the ECU is flashed with a performance curve.

the stock Smart will shift at 6500rpm if you keep your foot in it due to the signal you are sending telling it to go as fast as it can.

if you are only slightly pressing the pedal then it will upshift as fast as it can for optimum fuel economy.

it is trying to read your mind and make the car perform in the best way, either for milage or performance.
