You know, that link actually worked a week ago when I first ran into it. It was a good website. They had a twin turbo kit for a lot of cars including an Infiniti G35. They said the HP's on that were up to 700 horsepower. Not sure what happened.

I am gonna remove my Smart from Ebay and get one of these. Heck I already bought the BPP scoop, exhaust and air filter. Although I changed the tip for something different. OMG I hope it comes with a really LOUD BOV.....

An intercooler isn't going to help at 3-5 lbs, and would probably add more lag. This is exactly what the car needs, what turbo are you using on this setup? My dad had a Civic we made a turbo setup for using a T-25 and ran 8lbs psi w/o intercooler and was one of the best running turbo setup's we had. Now it has a T3/T4 at 12psi and a good sized intercooler, car runs good, but needs some better tuning. Now, he have a turbo'd S2000 that makes just a hair under 300 HP to the wheels.

Having the turbo and air filter mounted low for cooling going to have any issue with water?

Your headers will not work with a turbo. The turbo is mounted to the exhaust manifold as close to the engine as possible.

I just wanted to chime in here.I dont want to take anything from this thread. So we wil be starting our own thread in the next day or so with pricing,availability,etc....of our turbo system for the Smart car.

First thing.Yes, we are in business still. Our web hoster forgot to renew our website but it is taken care of now.We have been in business almost 13 years. You can search for our company in google and all sorts of things will pop up.We have a good rep and want to keep it that way!

I know there have been some questions regarding heat,dynos,etc......The fact is that we are still utilizing the catylitc convertor with our turbo system and have seen power increases of 90%! That is really huge and to keep emission down and still get the performance is really an incredible feat.I am sure Breathless Performance will agree withthis statement. We have been turbocharging all sorts of N/A cars for over ten years so we know how difficult it is to make power and still have a clean running car.

There is alot more to be had with this little engine but we are taking it slow at this point. As far as heat related issues, welll turbos do run hot so we are providing everyhting to keep the underhood temps down. Some people have asked why we intercooled the turbo system.Well stage 1 comes with no intercooler and runs 5 psi.Stage 2 comes with an intercooler and runs 8 psi.Althogh the intercooler is stuffed in the engfine bay,it does function very well, thanks to an electric fan underneath it.The fan does a good job of keeping the charge air temps under control. This leads me to the dyno and the big fan we had inside the engine bay. This was only for the intercooler. It did nothing to add power to the engine.Anyone who dynos any car without fans on the intercooler,radiators,etc......just simply does not know what they are doing. So anyways, that is about it.Look for our new thread in the next day or so.We will have all the information you ever wanted to know about turbocharging the Smart Car and how we accomplished it and how much it will cost you to turbo your Smart car.

UK cars have the same transmission. My car has 110 bhp and limiter was of course removed, it is the original 84ps turbo engined european car, one of the first 09 models. The best I have seen so far is nearly 120mph downhill on a good smooth German motorway, (that's speed according to my Satnav, because the speedometer stays pegged at 100mph).
Obligatory is to keep a spare pair of underpants in the glovebox at all times, - you never know when it might be necessary to stop and change them.

I am glad you came through. I was impressed by the many cars you have turbocharged. I also liked how the engine compartment looked with your turbo - Smart Car. Very clean and well thought out.

First test was done today for drivability. We took it out for a 150 mile run in both the city and highway and noticed much greater torque at the lower rpms to pull nice and strong at part throttle loads. MPG is about the same with or without the turbo. Our tuning starts on Monday for full throttle runs, untill then more drivability and reliabilty testing. By the way IAT temps only went up about 10 degrees with the turbo. Our airfilter and turbo setup is mounted low enough to capture the cooler air yet not hanging under the chassis.

Our tuning package will include both the engine and the trans programming.
