eskargo - thanks for your feedback. If I do this kit, I would do just the stage 2, as you've done, and not go the extreme as Larry is doing, so your feedback is more appropriate for my goals.

I would probably drive in auto mode, even with the turbo, as I am a lazy driver ...

one of my main concerns with adding the extra power is the delay between shifts. Theoretically, it seems a waste to add all this extra power if the shift lag is still present.

How do you feel the car drives when you drive it in auto mode? Is the shift lag a rate-limiting step?

If I ever am able to make it out to one of your club meetings, I'd like to take your car for a spin if you don't mind

You're still driving in auto? IMO auto mode is completely useless.

With a little throttle control, this thing can be very close to a full manual.

I find best results are obtained by attempting to mimic throttle action required by a clutch -- for upshifts, lifting right when tapping the paddle, then immediately getting back in it and blipping on down shifts.

Changing the fluid to something a bit more syncro friendly may have helped too.

the key words in my last response were lazy driver . Plus, I'm too busy playing with my Kenwood 8120

LOL,

you sound like me with the playing part. I shift with the paddles, but now and again, I use auto mainly for drinking a drink or playing with my Nav.

can't remember what it feels like to drive in auto mode. hehee...
let me take it for a spin this weekend and report back.
but i think it would probably be best for you to take a test drive.
both larry and i would be okay with that.... and you can compare the difference between my turbo with around 8-10psi to larry's turbo around 15-16psi + headers.

my report with driving in auto mode... the power is still there, but i feel that i need to have a heavier foot. where as, in manual mode, the boost is more controllable. i assume flooring it will also use more gas.

i used to drive strictly auto, but since having the turbo and getting the 2.0 upgrade, i am sold on the paddle shifters. i guess if you are really lazy, with the 2.0 upgrade, you can easily shift to manual and downshift to get the extra boost and return to auto with relative ease.

Wow...... I renamed my blind squirrel merlin, now call him turbo, he eats more, doesn't run any faster in his little round wheel, but feels better about himself.........he's not for everyone, isn't very fast (even naps periodically) and definitely not worth the trouble..... he can't read, so no need for a report card.

Did I win????????
