I purchased mine at a local woodworking store. I know that a local science store, the HMS Beagle sells them. There are also some online sources, googling rare earth magnets returns LOTS of hits (for less that what I paid...)

Next time, consider the Scotch product called 'Dual Lock'. It's very strong and sort of like super velcro. Radio Shack sells it in many stores, or motorcycle shops, sewing supply stores, etc. It's tiny mushroom shaped plastic pins that interlock when pressed together. I typically use it for motorcycle mounting of things I want to be able to quickly remove.

Tip: A little goes a long way. Don't cover the entire surface of what ever you are mounting. ;-) Kind of tough to get it off if you do that with a larger item like the scanguage.

Two online magnet sources I've used in the past:

K&J Magnetics

United Nuclear

From what I have read- sort of pry the ends and sides out with something like a credit card until you can get a good grip on it, and then pull straight out.

Call Scan Gauge direct at their 800 number. Tell them you saw one on eBay or Amazon (I did) for $159 with free shipping and they'll match it. Then you get the latest and they are very fast with their shipping. Worked for me!
