using edm brabus parts on the 2008 451

I really want to bring my 2008 passion to edm brabus spec. I was so disappointed that the brabus they released here was basically only a difference in body kit.

Is there any way to get the european brabus intake and exhaust to work on the north american block? i keep reading that the exhaust is incompatible, but I don't know why other than the fact that I'd also need to purchase the turbo. Would I be better off just buying a full engine/intake/exhaust/ecu setup? I was hoping to get away with a new intake, the turbo and exhaust, and am ecu remap.

Same basic block, Euro stuff would fit and we even got the lower "turbo" compression ratio, but good luck with the details.

Might be easier to go aftermarket or wait and see if Penske brings over the turbo..

i was under the impression that the block was identical and the compression was right for the turbo. i have no idea why it wouldn't be a direct bolt-on, though. the smart is my daily driver, so i'm a bit reluctant to guinea pig a project that might end up putting me without a car for weeks while i work out the kinks. I'm really wanting to use oem parts if at all possible, but will go aftermarket if absolutely necessary.

That's the point, it WOULD be a direct bolt-on, but cost and complexity will probably be prohibitive.

First you would need to study the Euro and US parts catalogs to work up a parts list. That might end it right there -- you will be amazed at how all the little stuff $$$ adds up.

Used parts -- good luck with that. I've sourced from Ebay UK -- rusty crap and freight will double the price -- if they will even ship to the US.

Suspect the ECU might also be a deal-breaker. Minor function differences between Euro and US cars probably mean a direct swap is out. Can a US ECU be reflashed to turbo specs?
