Warranty Coverage after Doug Thorley Exhaust

Can anyone confirm from personal experience whether their Smart Dealership has performed or declined warranty repairs because their Smart had an after market Doug Thorley Exhaust? DT and other threads on here say it "should not" affect warranty as it's after the catalytic converter but with all due respect to DT (and other manufacturers), they're trying to sell a product.

Don't want to bring the car in with at DT exhaust to fix some minor unrelated problem and have them blame it on the exhaust just because it's too difficult for them to diagnose the issue. Or have them note the new exhaust on the first oil change and if I blow a piston rod or something major at 10K miles, blame it on the modified exhaust. Thanks.

This has been discused several times, A dealer CANNOT cancel your warranty for after market modifications, they can refuse to cover items damaged by the modification, but in the case of the exhaust they would have a hard time proving that simply changing an exhaust could be responsible for any other damage.

No problems with the dealer. Here's some helpful info:

I brought my Passion back to the dealer for a Radio 9 swap. My stock radio suffered the "always- on" syndrome, since the day I picked up the car. The dealer simply installed a brand new Radio 9. at no cost--and commented positively on the Radio 10 subwoofer (I had bought on my own and installed) on my Radio 9.

The dealer's staff also liked my DTH system exhaust sound-- and the optional racing stripes I've added. One of the techs popped the engine cover to take a look at the exhaust and was impressed with the system.

I think the service department folks are fine with add-ons. With DTH's CARB-approved, bolt-on catback exhaust, you won't find any argument at your dealer's service department.

CruisingAZ told you correctly. If you ever get any crap about that, just mention the words "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act". Feel free to read more about that at places like this.

My technician put a little smiley face next to the exhaust check off in the Maint book at my 10 K maint. YES, the box was checked. I am taking the smiley face as a positive reaction.

Meaux DTH installed.

I was at the Denver dealer today and mentioned I had ordered the Doug Thorley Dual Exhaust, They said if I had any question on the install to just bring it down....And for $100.00 bucks the would install it. So it must be ok...
