What do I do with the old exhaust?

Okay, I'm getting my DT system soon. When I switch out, what do I do with the old system? This would apply to the BP system too. Store it for possible future use? Craigs list?

Keep it through the warranty period in case you have ANY engine/driveline problem, and quickly get it back on before it goes to the shop!

I am having my DT exhaust installed Tuesday and I plan to put the stock system in the DT box and keep it just in case.

Or a fancy doorstop. Or even an anchor?

A modified rear valence for center-exit exhaust may be a giveaway that something has been up. If I spring for a BP exhaust I will request that it dumps at a 45-degree down-angle off the right side to accomodate the stock valence, similar to the stock exhaust. I have no interest in centerline exit, only the benefit of the system. Ernie (BP) was willing to do my "one-off" thing with very pleasing results, and I s'pect he would do likewise in that case.

But I thought the aftermarket exhaust from CAT back would not affect the warranty?

To me this falls under the similar subject . . . You do your own oil changes = no warranty.

I'd like to see the dealers face when someone reinstalls the original muffler with the center cut-out on the rear valance. "Honest, I cut it that way to make it look cool." Cut valance = No warranty. No soup for you!

I think its just more so a policy of C.Y.A.

If the exhaust isn't on then its just one more thing that that can't complain about. For the 45minutes that it takes to swap them out its worth the effort, IMHO.

Haha.

I used to have an exhaust for my Toyota Corrola that was slightly illegal.

I ran it for the HP and gas milage gains, and put the old one on every other year for smog checks!
