Window Tint Recommendation

Has anyone tinted their own windows?

The sun here in Atlanta has been hot. This car gets hot. I am thinking about tinting the windows.

I have!

I had 3M Color Stable window tint. It's guaranteed for life not to purple, crack, bubble, etc. Also, it doesn't have metallic particles in it like some tints do that could affect the reception of your cell phone, GPS, etc. Highly recommended!

I'd imagine smartcar111 had the film professionally installed. Installing window film really isn't something you want to try yourself. Your best option is to find a professional installer in your area (preferably one that only installs film, rather than an "accessory shop") and take your car there.

We had ours done professionally cost about $110. Our is darker than normal legal limit as we have a medical exception signed by Dr. and state waiver. Have to carry it in the car at all times. Have only been stopped once and they said they were sorry for stopping us but it was just to dark for night use under normal situations. We used Non-Reflective Film 05% VLT which is darker than law permits without a waiver. Did the side windows, back hatch and a 5 inch band at top of windshield.

Padawan is correct! I had mine installed by a 3M authorized installer. I wouldn't install the tint myself. Leave that to a professional unless

Unless you want...

95% of the tinted cars in my area have peeling, bubbled, purple looking, not-clear-at-all tint. It makes the car look so trashy.

Pay a pro and make sure they use high grade materials.
