wires for coolant radiator fan ?

Hi peeps, I'm trying to trace the correct wires to activate the coolant fan at the front of the car.

I have put a GSXR engine in mine and started it up this morning but since its using a different temp sensor its not activating the coolant fan at the front. I have tried fooling the temp sensor of the smart by putting a low resistor across a couple of pins on the ecu. depending what resistance I put alters the level of bars on the LCD display so I know I have the right values.. when I set it so the temp says 100 deg.. and the temp light starts flashing it still doesnt start the fan up.. so I might have to do something different..

any ideas or suggestions please ?

Is the fan working at all? I'm not sure if the ECU turns on the fan, with out a service manual. Maybe trace the fan leads and see if they go to a thermistor.
