WORKS "Smarter" Line Announced

Details here:

http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/for...t-sonoma-7978/

· “Smarter” WORKS Air Intake System - $349 (15% day of discount = $296.65 when installed at WORKS)
· “Smarter” WORKS Exhaust System - TBD
· “Smarter” Performance Handling Package – WORKS Springs and WORKS Matching Adjustable Swaybar - $499 (15% day of discount = $424.14 when installed at WORKS)
· “Smarter” WORKS Stainless Steel Front Brake Lines and Motul RBF-600 fluid package – $99 (15% day of discount = $84.15 when installed at WORKS)
· “Smarter” License Plate Frame - $5 (15% day of discount = $4.25)
· “Smarter” Embroidered 32 Ounce Deep Pile Carpeted Floor Mats – $119 (15% day of discount = $92.65)
· Rial 15”x6” Wheel and Tire Package (General Exclaim UHPs w/TPMS Sensors) - $1099* (please place deposit by 6/18 on this item to have them for the event)

I have been running these components on our personal Smart and have been thrilled with the “Smarter” performance of our car. My wife, Roberta, is admittedly not much of a car enthusiast but has been very impressed with the transformation her car has experienced, becoming that much more predictable and fun to drive. In fact, I am working on an article to appear on Driverside.com as well as a major newspaper to discuss the transformation of our personal car from Smart to “Smarter” – so stay tuned for that.

WORKS - Power | Precision | Passion (no Smarter stuff on there yet).

David,

I'm looking for some cool floor mats for my red Smart Passion that I'm picking up today. Can you help me out. I live in MO so it would involve shipping.
Thanks

I gotta get me some of that...

DavidV,

So, how would one go about getting the parts from WORKS? And how difficult would they be to install? If they were originally parts from other Mitsubishi engines, I can't imagine it was easy.

Any idea what the improvements were in terms of horsepower or torque? And are there any rumors about after-market performance chips?

Thanks for the replies. Details on the parts/accessories will be announced at the June 28th with a show and tell and Q&A with the WORKS engineers.

I will be the one taking orders on all of the "Smarter" items and processing these through WORKS for the time being. We chose to go that route since I am the most familiar with the car and spend the most time interacting with the community both here online and in-person at meets and events.

Later, as WORKS signs up dealers, those folks will be handling the majority of sales.

The plan is to have dealers carrying the parts that offer installation. Should you choose to install them yourself, they will have detailed instructions - not to mention a warranty - just like the other WORKS items that they sell. Although WORKS does R&D and development work both for Mitsubishi N.A. and their own line of products, everything for the "Smarter" line was designed from the ground up specifically for our cars. My personal car was the development and evaluation car for most of these initial products.

Dyno numbers will be coming soon (we had hoped to use WORKS' Dynapak, but this requires special 3-lug hub adapters for our cars) so most likely the numbers will be provided on a traditional roller dyno initially. As for the ECU tweaks (they hope to offer a reflash if there is enough demand) stay tuned for now. I am pushing for it, but a lot of the additional development work and resources that would require are dictated by what kind of demand they see for these initial products that they have developed.

I hope that helps answer some of the questions, and I look forward to beginning the pre-order process on the 28th.

Thanks,
DavidV

Turbo?

Are there any plans to sell a turbo for US Smart cars?

I reserved a blue metallic passion last week. I am a little discouraged about the suggested wait times but I'm in for the long haul.

Status?

I'm ready for a suspension mod, but not finding a lot of choices.

What is the status at Works? It seems to have gone dark after the debut at Infineon.

I don't know what that status is either, I also wanted to do the intake, sway bar, and brake line mods they demo'd at Infineon but haven't heard or seen DavidV for awhile -- I understand he has a new baby so that takes up a great deal of time, though he has been fairly active with the events and I did see him at the Lombard street event, so hopefully he'll give us something soon
