A week ago, before weather got into the discussion, I noticed MS Streets & Trips made a little detour from the map in post #22, when favored roads selected is "quicker". The detour also avoids a bit of backroad travel, although it is a few more miles. MS S&Ts thinks it takes less time. [Ducktown? Didn't C.W. McCall mention Ducktown in one of his songs? LOL]

Just an observation. And, the jaunt across on 74 looks like it would be interesting.

I've gone both ways and the challenge I've found is a great deal more traffic on 68 and 74 and therefore a longer drive in terms of time. Ducktown is the center for a lot of whitewater rafting, Lots of buses and slow traffic during the day.

Well, as I said, I noticed this small deviation a week (or more) ago. And, I didn't feel it was worth mentioning, until the weather situation entered the discussion. I'm still thinking that will be resolved by Friday regardless. (hoping it will be)
