Did you happen to throw together a flier for the event this year? I know - one more thing. I'd like to promote it at our monthly club meets. Since a lot of our local members aren't internet savvy but do have summer houses up there they will most likely be interested.

I'm still thinking if I can make it after returning from Europe that Fri. night. Got to get my two furry 4-legged critters out of hoc earlier somehow with the possibility of a Sat. departure to the mtns.

Hopefully, US 129 will re-open by late summer. It is currently closed due to a rockslide.

Sounds like a "shovel ready" project for the President?

As long as NC/TN, the stabilization plan and money come together - this should be cleared well in advance of OTD!

"March 20, 2010: The rock slide on US 129 is located between the Dragon and Happy Valley Road/Foothills Parkway. US 129 has been closed at the TN/NC State Line by Tennessee making the Dragon itself inaccessable. There are mixed reports from TDOT on reopening. One says reopen will be March 26, the other gives no date. The only alternatives are the Cherohala Skyway US 441 through the Great Smoky Mountains."

Not to worry - the Dragon will be up and challenging by September!
