Tail of the Dragon rally - September 26 & 27 2009

I just finished unpacking the car and my cloths and what not and going to bed. I made it and it was one heck of a drive from Raleigh, NC although I know some of coming from further away. I've never driven that far from home before in my life.

I can't leave for another 5 hours!!! Then I have a 9 hour trip....at least I think I can do it in 9 or less. My wife bailed out as she isn't feeling too well thinking she may be a bit swiney fluey and doesn't want to spread it to everyone. She still has class today so I had to take her to class.

Instead of having an extra meal ticket I am bringing my dad, I suppose I'll need a Sharpie to X out my wife's name and insert my dad's name on his name tag. BTW, he is a smart owner too - just not driving his.

Only thing I'm worried about is when I do good time I always screw something up on my car. My home brewed exhaust doesn't have a flex pipe and I've snapped it in half twice. It is secure but I have my doubts thinking the cat won't break - crossing my fingers. Generally I drive conservatively but when out on the interstate not on a convoy......

Heard the song Convoy on the radio the other day and thought of all the smarts going through the mountains.....CONVOY.

I will be the last one in but it looks like NCC has that free dinner covered.

I'll be another "draggin' tail" right there with you late tonight. I can't leave for another 5.5 hours and and it's a 6.5 - 7 hour drive. But, the car is packed and ready sitting in the work parking building waiting...

You guys need to quit chatting, and start driving! (Except fpage77, who drove in earlier this morning, and needs a nap - he just needs some sleep).

Right now, it is sunny and on the warm side (which beats rainy and cold any day!) Just a few folks here, and we are already drawing crowds - people doing drive-by shootings (pictures), stopping to ask questions or relate "I almost bought one" stories...

Been at Pigeon Forge for a couple of nights. Took in a couple of shows had some excellent food. We headed down to Robbinsville Thursday afternoon ran into some heavy showers but didn't last long. Met Gary and a few other early birds. Staying at Fontana Lodge with the Clogger's Yee haw !! BARNEY O.

the first week in November for a week. We plan doing the dragonstail drive also.Anyone want to meet up?

I'm here (dripping) outside my non-smoking cabin. When I checked in, they told me there is a fire pit and plenty of wood. Tooooo hot for that, me thinks.

The caravan up was fun! (man, it's hot)

Heading over to the Microtel to see what's going on there.

EDIT: A couple hours later, much cooler now. And, check out the view from my front porch.


Now that it's cooled off, I can even sit out there and listen to frogs & crickets, and an occasional farm animal.

Well..bad news..unless someone is generous enough to travel to knoxville to pick me up, I won't be able to make it..I'm utterly broke after paying bills today since my check was very lackluster because the car sales industry SUCKS right now. I know i'm gonna miss a lot of fun, oh well, maybe next year. Regards!
