275 miles first tank

I got 275 miles on my first tank of gas before the reserve light started blinking. Now is the gas tank 7 gal with 1 gal reserve? If it is that means I got 275 on 7 gals of gas = 39 miles to the gal right? Or did I get 275 on 8 gals of gas = 34.37 miles per gal? little help please. Also do you all use 91 octain in your smart?

Just divide 275 by the amount of gas you pumped into the tank to get your "mpg".

How much gas did you put in the car? Figure it out.

I would not count on the low fuel light to give you any real accuracy as to how much fuel is left. One half gallon each way would make a huge difference in if you end up walking or not!

This is what the manual says about the tank:

Fuel tank All models 8.72 US gal (33.0 l) Premium unleaded gasoline:
including a reserve of All models 1.32 US gal (5.0 l) Minimum Posted Octane 91 (Afvg. of 96 RON/86 MON)

So, the 1.32 gallons are included in the 8.72 gallons. Right?
And the gauge has 8 sections, so it is like 1.1 gallons per section total in the tank. I thought it was like a gallon per section...
