Already had to take my smart in for service. Hearing ticking noise and smelling burnt at rear. Read on here about both issues. Hopefully Annapolis smart can stop the ticking. Guess I learn to live with the smell...lol

if it's the usual one, the smell goes away after awhile. The ticking is a different story. You either live with it (mine is minor) or you have your dealer fix it. In other words, it sounds like you have everything under control.

Yeah, that burning smell is normal for such a new engine. some factory oil or coating of somesort that burns off. I'm nearly at 12k and still get the occasional whif of it. Being a rear engine car without as much air exposure as a front mounted engine, the smells are more prone to sticking around.
The ticking is most likely the purge valve which is a normal sound. mine is very minor as well. Usually heard sitting quietly at a stop light or when idiling... depending on how bad it is, they'll replace it or insulate it.
