Hi, this is my first post. I normally do not post on forums, but after "lurking" here during most of 2008, I decided that this is a most informative and worthwhile group.

I finally got to configure my SMART on Dec. 23 after reserving it on March 16, 2008. I have ordered a Passion coupe with the Comfort Package.

One thing I noticed on the list of "Functional/electrical equipment" on my configuration printout is "Intermittent rear windshield wiper with wiper/wash function". Can anyone confirm that in fact the Smart coupe is equipped with rear wiper/washer?

It's standard equipment. I've got a Pure and it's got one. Came in handy this morning, actually.

In the flesh, so to speak.

First Test Drive

My family and I visited relatives in Fairfax,VA over this past Christmas weekend. My daughter and I snuck away for a few hours to the Tyson's Smart Center. We test drove a 2009 Cabriolet and had a blast! In spite of all the sort comings eluded to on this site we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I am currently configured for a 2009 Silver Brabus Cabriolet with EDD of 01/30/2009 - 04/30/2009. Wallace Rumarger - the sales rep at Tyson Smart Center was most helpful and allowed my daughter and I to take a very long test drive.
My delima remains that in the current economic environement can I justify spending $23,000 on a toy for "Dad". I'm used to making rational finantial decisions. Perhaps I'm going through a mid life crisis or something. The Smart is a "quirky" car and a blast to drive. However the dealership is 2hrs away (VA Beach) and perhaps is not the smartest purchase. But it was so fun to drive!

The Smart is also great on gas and goes farther on a tank of gas. I also think it is a cure for mid-life crises. It is also very safe for such a small car. Perhaps because of the economic times, this car would make sense. I bought a Pure at 11,590.00 which is way cheaper than your cabriolet but not as much fun since one can not experience the 'wind in the hair' (being a balding man, some thing I experience less of every year ).
