Hello, I live in New York (USA). Are there any dealers in my state or the east coast? If I were to look into a Smart from Canada, can I buy one and register it? I am curious if the emissions on Canadian models are up to snuff with NY state DMV specs, or am I going to hit a "roadblock." Plus, are there any "hiccups" with buying it in another county and bringing over state lines? Thanks for all your help.

No, you cannot register a Canadian smart 450 or 451 in the US. There is a smart center in New York City that will open up next year.

There has been, at least one Canadian Diesel Smart registered in Florida, it was sold on Ebay.

There are quite a number of 450s from Europe (grey model) here in the US (legally-emissions compliant). I have one and personally prefer it to the new 451.

There is one (450) on Ebay right now (item #150200300501) that is at $15,200.
A four year-50,000mi bumper to bumper warranty is less than $1000.

It cost more than the 451 but it has been tons of fun I would do it all over again in a NY minute.
